NO ASSEMBLY

GlareGaard is integrally molded in complete form which means NO ASSEMBLY. This saves time and
money and reduced crew time in the construction zone. 

 

Other glare screens are a loose assembly of base rails, vertical pieces and brackets and bolts that put it all together. Although cheap to ship, these other systems take time, money and worker exposure to assemble and install.

MODULAR, FAST INSTALLATION

Our injection molded polymer GlareGaard are molded in 2 ft modular sections that snap together. A
single anchor attaches the two modules together and to the concrete.

Our tooling is very precise and so all dimensions are ALWAYS the same, including hole positions.

A reinforced, recessed, molded-in hole is provided every 2 lineal feet. Additional holes are provided in case the sections need to be cut or secured differently.

The GlareGaard material is tough and pliable but can be readily drilled through or cut. 

 

A 2 ft module can be removed and replaced easily in the event of damage.

 

2 ft modular sections are flexible because they can fit 20’, 12’ 6”, 12’, and 10 ‘ barriers easily. Any damage can easily be fixed by removing and replacing a 2 ft modular section. If you need to remove a section for hoisting that can also be done.

Thickened and Reinforced anchor points provide a secure connection to the concrete barrier. 

 

Thickened longitudinal and radial ribs provide a torsionally stable base for the integrally connected

vertical portion of the GlareGaard

 

 

IMPACT RESISTANCE & SAFETY

The newest version of GlareGaard has a patent pending innovation that creates a defined flex zone so that impacts
can bend rather than break the vertical blades. An impact modifying polymer is added to the base resin during molding
that makes the finished product pliable and able to absorb impact. 

GlareGaard’s integral construction is a large component of impact resistance. When your verticals and horizontals are connected by a large smooth continuous radius you don’t get the point loads and stress concentrators found in other assembled glare screens.

 

GlareGaard is stable and resistant to wind load because of its double walled construction. This stability enables us to use a pliable and flexible material that enables a ductile bend. A white line is left where the vertical blade is bent. This “battle scar” is a sign of success and actually makes that blade more likely to survive a further impact.

 

By eliminating brackets, bolts, lugs, etc. between vertical and horizontal elements, GlareGaard has reduced projectile danger inherent to other assembly-requiring glare screens.

RECESSED ANCHORS

Our molded-in holes are fully recessed meaning that bolts are invisible and less exposed to the public. 
This has practical, safety and aesthetic advantages.

 

Note that only the anchors connecting adjacent modules have to be attached; additional anchor positions
are provided to be used if concrete or spacing issues make it advisable.

Alternating colors can be used to enhance delineation.

Oncoming Headlight glare blinds drivers. This stressful condition makes it hard for drivers to judge their position and speed relative to barriers, lanes and other vehicles. GlareGaard directly blocks headlight glare and is a great tool for highway professionals to improve driver comfort and safety.

Washington DOT did a study that showed a reduction of injury-causing collisions of 29% and a reduction of property only damage collisions of 60% during a 12 month period.
